The total number of COVID-19 deaths in Galway rose by seven in the final week of October to 144, new CSO data shows.

The median age of the deaths from COVID in Galway also fell from 82 to 81 in the week ending 29 October.

Galway is still the county with the lowest median age for its COVID cases, at 28 years.  Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 20,447 cases have been recorded in the county.

The total number of cases recorded in the county rose by 1,521 in the week to October 29.

Nationally, the number of cases that week was 14,707. Dublin (3,764) and Cork (1,689) had the highest number of new cases in the Republic.

Those aged 14 or younger accounted for 21% of cases, down 2% from the previous week.
