Weather warnings could be issued by Met Éireann on Wednesday morning ahead of heavy rain forecast for Galway on Thursday and Friday.
A band of rain is approaching from the Atlantic and is forecast to stall over the western half of the country on Thursday and Friday, leading to persistent and heavy falls in places.
The weather experts say that this may result in some river flooding as well as localised surface flooding.
The weather advisory affects Galway, Clare, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim, Kerry, Cork, Limerick and Donegal.
The Met Éireann advisory is currently set to remain in place until Saturday morning.
