The weather in Galway is expected to take a turn for the much worse tonight, with a thunderstorm weather warning issued for Galway.
Met Eireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for “Thundery outbreaks of rain with possible lightning and localised flooding” on Saturday night.
The warning will be in effect from 9pm tonight, until 2am on Sunday morning.
As well as Galway, the alert covers all of Munster and counties Mayo, Roscommon, and Sligo.
A Gale Warning for coastal waters in the west and south of the country has also been issued by Met Eireann for Saturday evening and night, expiring at midnight.
South to southeast winds will reach gale force 8 at times on Saturday evening from Carnsore Point to Valentia to Erris Head.
Temperatures in Galway are expected to reach lows of 7 degrees tonight, with light to moderate variable winds forecast throughout the day.
