A status yellow weather warning is in place for Galway, Mayo, and Donegal this weekend.
The weather warning comes as Ireland looks to avoid the hammering of Storm Freya as it makes its way across Britain.
Met Eireann has said that the storm looks set to miss Ireland on its current path as it makes its way across the south of England and Wales on Sunday.
But heavy winds and rain are still expected to affect Galway through tomorrow.
South to southwest winds are predicted to reach sustained speeds of 50-65km/hr with gusts of up to 90-100km/hr.
The weather warning is currently set to remain in effect through Saturday until 3am on Sunday morning.
There is also a risk of coastal flooding as strong winds combine with high seas.
