Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for snow in Galway on Thursday.
A band of rain is expected to turn increasingly to sleet and snow on Thursday morning and afternoon, with ice on untreated surfaces causing dangerous driving conditions.
Met Éireann said that travel disruption and poor visibility on the roads are also possible.
The warning was issued for Galway, Cavan, Leitrim, Mayo, Monaghan, Roscommon, and Sligo, and it will last from 2am until 6pm on Thursday.
