Met Eireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for heavy rain along the west coast today.
Up to 40mm of rain is expected to accumulate due to heavy rain on Tuesday morning and afternoon, leading to excess surface water.
The warning for counties Galway, Mayo, and Clare will be in place until 4pm this afternoon.
Another marine warning has been issued for boats off the west coast by Met Eireann today, as winds are forecast to reach force 6 or 7 today on coastal water from Carnsore Point to Mizen Head to Slyne Head.
Rain is expected to persist this evening in Galway, even after the weather warning has expired, but to lighten gradually over time.
More heavy rain is also forecast for Wednesday when unsettled conditions will continue.
Temperatures today will reach highs of 14 to 15 degrees, with moderate variable winds, veering westerly later in the day.
