Met Eireann has issued a weather warning for thunderstorms and hail in Galway, and much of central Ireland today.
The status yellow weather warning cautions that there is a risk of scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
The inclement weather will also bring with it a risk of hail and possible flooding from 2pm this afternoon, to 10pm.
The alert has been issued for Galway, Cavan, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Leitrim, Roscommon, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath.
Temperatures in Galway will reach 18 to 19 degrees today according to Met Eireann, with a light variable wind throughout the day.
Scattered showers are expected throughout the day, turning heavy at time.
This is a dramatic turnaround from the week so far, where Galway enjoyed mostly clear and sunny skies, with temperatures in the high teens and low twenties.
