A status yellow warning for rainfall on Thursday has been issued for Galway and three other counties this afternoon.
Heavy rain may cause localised flooding on Thursday, and rain accompanied by fresh to strong winds will lead to poor travelling conditions in the affected regions.
Mayo, Cork and Kerry are also affected by the warning which will come into effect at 10am.
The rainfall totals will be higher in mountainous regions, and Met Éireann says the warning will be lifted at 8pm on Thursday evening.
