Galway Daily weather Ice warning issued as Met Eireann warns of hazardous conditions

A status yellow weather warning for thunderstorms and hail across Ireland today has been extended to last into Thursday night.

A weather warning issued by Met Eireann yesterday forecasts that “Thunderstorm activity with the risk of hail will lead to localised flooding and hazardous driving conditions” today.

The warning was originally set to last until 7pm, but has been extended by Met Eireann to 10pm Thursday.

In Galway today, widespread thundery showers are expected, but some bright patches will also come through in the afternoon and early evening.

Highest temperatures of 17 to 19 degrees today, with a moderate southerly wind veering westerly as the evening progresses.

A marine warning has also been issued for all Irish coastal waters today, with winds reaching force 6 or higher throughout Thursday.

The UK Met Office has also issued a thunderstorm warning for the six counties in Northern Ireland for Friday, into Saturday morning.

Friday will continue cloudy in Galway, with spells of rain throughout the day and into the weekend.
