Met Éireann has said that heavy rain today will lead to disruption and localised flooding in Galway.
Status yellow rain warnings are in place across the island of Ireland today, except for Cork, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny which were issued orange warnings for heavy rain.
The warning in Galway came into effect at 6am this morning, and will remain in place until midnight.
Drier, brighter weather will develop in coastal areas during the afternoon but rain will only slowly clear in the east during the evening.
Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees are forecast, with fresh southerly winds easing through the day.
Met Éireann says tonight will be colder than recent nights as temperatures drop to between 4 and 7 degrees.
Some mist and fog patches will develop in light to moderate southerly winds.
