After a promising start to the week, with clear sunny skies on Monday and Tuesday, more unsettled weather is expected to prevail now, with dull skies and rain persisting into the weekend.

Outbreaks of rain and drizzle on Wednesday are expected to get heavier this evening, particularly in coastal areas.

Highest temperatures tonight of 15 to 16 degrees with moderate southwesterly winds continuing in Thursday morning, along with continuing showers of rain.

The rain will let up on Thursday after a few showers in the early morning, but don’t expect sunny skies as apart from a few brief spells, Met Eireann is forecasting overcast conditions throughout the day, with temperatures peaking at 18 degrees in the early evening.

The weather will take a turn for the worse on Friday, with persistent rain settling in from the early afternoon following a mostly dry morning.

Highest temperatures of 17 to 18 degrees in the early evening during the heaviest period of rain, with a light southerly breeze getting stiffer and veering southwesterly as the day goes on.

While things won’t be as bad on Saturday, with a few spells of sunshine even expected through the clouds, widespread showers are forecast throughout the day.
