Met Eireann is predicting that this weekend’s weather will see sunny skies be marred by increasingly heavy rain going into Sunday.

After a dry night tonight the weather on Friday will stay largely clear with long spells of sunshine and highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees and light breezes.

Temperatures will cool to around 10 degrees on Friday night.

The sun won’t be showing its face as much on Saturday as the weather will stay mostly cloudy, but staying dry for the most part.

The mercury will keep climbing however as temperatures on Saturday will reach highs of 16 to 18 degrees in the late afternoon and early evening.

Saturday will see moderate south easterly breezes.

But on Sunday Met Eireann is forecasting that things will return to normal for Galway as heavy rain will start early and continue to get worse going into the night.

Temperatures will stay high despite the rain on Sunday reaching highs of 16 degrees Celsius, with moderate easterly winds.

The rain will stay consistent right through Sunday for a miserable Monday morning, but it is expected to break by the early afternoon.
