Freezing temperatures are forecast once again this weekend and Met Éireann has warned that conditions will turn increasingly wintry from midweek.

A weather advisory was issued today by the weather experts, who say that it will turn colder from tomorrow, Wednesday.

There is a risk of frost and icy conditions, with falls of sleet or snow at times across many parts of the country. Wintry showers in Galway most likely to occur over the weekend when temperatures fall to 0 degrees.

A status yellow weather warning for rain will remain in place for Galway until 9pm this evening.

Tomorrow will be brighter than today though, and sunny spells are forecast for Thursday before conditions turn more wintry on Friday evening and into Saturday.
