Extremely stormy seas are expected off the west coast of Ireland tonight and tomorrow, with a Status Orange marine warning issued by Met Eireann.
The marine alert states that winds will reach gale force 8 and strong gale force 9 today and tonight on all Irish coastal waters and the Irish Sea.
Conditions will be even worse in the west of Ireland on Sunday, with storm force 10 winds forecast by Met Eireann for the waters off the west coast tomorrow.
Two weather warnings have also been issued for extremely windy conditions with a risk of coastal flooding in Galway tomorrow.
A Status Yellow wind warning will be in force for most of the country from 5am to 5pm on Sunday.
Sustained winds of 65-80km/hr are expected throughout the day, with gusts of 90-110km/hr.
The worst of the weather is expected in the mid afternoon, when a Status Orange warning will be in force in Galway, Mayo, and Donegal from 12pm to 4pm.
During this time gusts are expected to surpass 110km/hr Met Eireann has said, with a risk of coastal flooding when winds are onshore.
