Galway city is set to experience highs of 31 degrees Celsius this afternoon, one of the highest temperatures forecast in Ireland this weekend as the heatwave conditions continue.
It will be sunny across most of the county today with high temperatures ranging between 28 and 31 degrees.
A sea breeze will keep temperatures slightly lower near the coast and there is also a chance of an isolated thunderstorm in the evening.
Met Éireann says that tonight be warm and that a few showers will develop – with some of those being heavy.
Tomorrow will be another hot day with temperatures reaching 25 to 30 degrees across Galway, however it may be slightly cloudier in the east of the county.
In the evening, cloud will move in after a generally sunny day, and scattered heavy and thundery showers are possible.
Slow-moving downpours are also possible, causing spot flooding in places.
Met Éireann’s status yellow warning will expire at 6am on Monday when temperatures return to normal.
