Met Éireann has issued a status yellow warning for wind ahead of a stormy day across Ireland.
Westerly winds will be very strong and gusty today, reaching storm force in some coastal areas.
Met Éireann says that falling trees, power outages and travel disruption are all possible due to the stormy conditions.
All counties in the Republic are affected by the warning which will be lifted at 2am on Friday morning.
There will be a mix of sunny spells and showers in Connacht today, with afternoon temperatures of 7 or 8 degrees.
