Met Éireann is warning of much colder weather in the coming days, with wintry showers possible across the country tonight and tomorrow.
While today starts mostly sunny and dry in Galway, tonight is set to be freezing, with heavy and thundery showers becoming wintry on high ground.
Temperatures will fall even further tomorrow (Thursday), with afternoon temperatures of just 2 to 4 degrees.
There is a risk of hail and thunder tomorrow, and some showers will fall as sleet on high ground.
Wintry showers will persist in western coastal areas on Thursday night and it will be very cold, with lowest temperatures of +1 to -4 degrees forecast for the country.
Friday will be another cold day but not quite as cold as Thursday. Showers will continue in western coastal areas, some heavy and wintry with the risk of hail.
And the winter weather is set to continue over the weekend and into next week, according to Met Éireann’s early forecast.
