Road users across Galway are being asked to take extra care today as snowfall and wind is affecting a number of routes across the county.
15.45pm Treacherous conditions have been reported on the N59 between Moycullen and Clifden. The route is almost impassable at Ballynahinch.
2:45pm Motorists are being urged to be extra careful on Furnace Road (R336) in Camus due to snow.
2:40pm Gardaà in Loughrea have reported snow on a number of routes.
2:00pm Road users must take care on the N59 between Oughterard and Recess this afternoon.
2:00pm Snow has affected a number of routes in the West of Galway, with some roads around Clifden particularly dangerous as well as in Clifden itself.
AA Roadwatch has reminded those making essential journeys today to allow extra time for essential travel, and drive at a reduced speed in affected areas.
Falling snow can affect visibility and make it take up to ten times longer to stop a vehicle. Wind-blown debris is possible on all routes.
The two current weather warnings for snow and wind will remain in place throughout today and tonight.
