Met Eireann has issued a warning that weather conditions later this weekend will be conducive to the spread of potato blight.
The environmental warning states the blight friendly weather is expected to develop on Sunday through to Monday afternoon.
There will be some opportunities for spraying on Saturday, the alert also states.
The covers all of Connacht, along with counties Donegal, Kilkenny, Wexford, and Waterford.
Potato blight is caused by a fungus called Phytophthora infestans that spreads through the air and thrives in humid weather.
Its symptoms include patches of brown freckles on leaves with a yellowish border, dark patches on tubers, and potatoes rotting into soggy masses.
This weekend’s weather is forecast to be mostly overcast, with some spells of sunshine today, and rain developing in Sunday evening.
Next week is expected to be much more enjoyable, with strong sun coming by Tuesday.
