Galway may experience flooding today with a status yellow weather warning issued by Met Eireann.
The yellow rain warning for Galway, Clare, Limerick, Mayo, and Sligo will be in effect from 3pm this afternoon until 3am on Friday morning.
Heavy and persistent rain is expected throughout the day into the early hours of Friday morning, gradually dying down as the day progresses.
Possible impacts include localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions in the affected counties.
A separate weather warning for heavy rain has also been issued for Cork and Kerry in the south.
This will be in place from 3pm Thursday until 3pm Friday.
