Met Éireann has warned that very low temperatures, snow and ice will lead to “treacherous conditions” tonight.

Two status yellow weather warnings have been issued for all counties in the Republic, and both will remain in place overnight.

The low temperature warning will come into effect at 8.00 pm this evening (Wednesday), with temperatures expected to fall to between -2 and -4 degrees overnight.

Then at 11.00 pm, the snow and ice warning will extend across all counties until 11.00 am tomorrow.

Met Éireann say that the snow and ice will lead to ‘treacherous conditions’ and that some accumulations are possible.

Frost, ice and fog patches will linger today in some parts of Connacht, the weather experts have said.

It will be partly cloudy but mostly dry and bitterly cold with highest temperatures of just 1 to 4 degrees.
