Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for heavy winds in Galway and and much of the west and northwest of Ireland this weekend.
The warning for Saturday and Sunday covers all of Connacht, as well as counties Clare and Donegal.
South to Southwest winds, veering westerly, are forecast to reach speeds of 50-65km/hr, with gusts reaching up to
“Becoming very windy on Saturday night and for a time on Sunday with a risk of some disruption,” Met Eireann warns.
The weather warning issued today will be in force from 10pm on Saturday night until 8am on Sunday morning.
The UK Met Office has also issued a wind warning for Antrim and Derry in Northern Ireland.
Galway’s weather is expected to be mildly miserable this weekend, with cloudy conditions and scattered outbreaks of drizzle.
But things are forecast to improve by Sunday evening, with some outbreaks of sun.
