Met Éireann has extended its warning for thunderstorms to Galway this afternoon, with bands of thunder and lightning expected to cause disruption in places this evening.
The status yellow warning in Galway is now in place and will be lifted at 10pm today, Wednesday.
This evening’s warning comes after Met Éireann issued orange warnings for rain and thunderstorms in the south-east of the country.
Most counties in Ireland also have a warning for rain, but Galway seems likely to avoid the worst of the heavy rainfall.
Donegal, Tyrone, Sligo and Mayo are the only counties which have not been issued warnings by Met Éireann or the Met Office.
