A weather warning has been issued for high winds creating dangerous conditions in Galway from midnight tonight.
Met Eireann has issued a status yellow wind warning for Galway, Mayo, and Donegal from midnight tonight until 11am Tuesday.
Throughout the early hours and into Tuesday morning the west and northwest coasts will experience strong to gale force and gusty southwest winds.
This may result in branches and loose or flying debris creating hazardous driving conditions.
Met Eireann has also said that there could be wave overtopping due to onshore winds and high seas, particularly during high tide times.
There will be a wet start to New Year’s Eve on Tuesday, with heavy rain in the morning giving way to lighter showers in the afternoon.
Highest temperatures tomorrow of 10 to 11 degrees will be the last mild day before a cold snap sets in with the new year.
Temperatures will begin to fall from Wednesday on, dropping below 0 in the latter half of the week.
