Met Éireann has extended a weather advisory until 7pm on Wednesday with heavy showers forecast for much of the country over the coming days.
There will be further spells of heavy rain or showers, possibly causing disruption.
The advisory, which is a level below a yellow weather warning, is for all counties in the Republic.
But there is also some sunshine on the way for much of the country in the second half of the week.
Good spells of warm sunshine are forecast on Thursday along with scattered showers. These showers will be heavy in places with a possibility of thunder.
Maximum temperatures will be 17 to 20 degrees in light to moderate northerly breezes.
Friday looks set to be another bright day with temperatures in the high teens and early 20s.
Met Éireann says that indications suggest the weekend will bring plenty of dry weather with just a few showers.
