A weather warning for freezing conditions overnight in Galway and across Ireland is now in effect this evening.

The Status Yellow Ice Warning issued by Met Eireann came into effect at 6pm this evening, and will remain in force until 10am on Tuesday morning.

“Hazardous conditions due to freezing temperatures including icy stretches on roads and paths.”

Galway is expected to see below zero temperatures overnight, with the coldest stretches coming in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Temperatures will hit lows of -2 degrees in some inland areas of Galway overnight, while generally bottoming at 0 degrees in coastal areas.

Tuesday will be bright and dry, but also freezing once again. Met Eireann is forecasting clear sunny skies, with just some scattered light cloud cover tomorrow.

However, temperatures will drop below zero once again come tomorrow night, and will remain cold for the rest of the week, with a small improvement.
