Met Éireann has said that hail, sleet, and snow showers are possible during the second half of this week as temperatures continue to fall across the country.
It will be very cold as an Arctic airmass sets in, bringing sharp to severe frosts and icy stretches on roads.
Met Éireann issued a weather advisory for all counties which will last until Saturday, 10 December.
Plenty of dry weather is expected, but there are likely to be wintry showers at times, especially in northern and northwestern parts of the country. Frosty conditions will develop by night.
Current indications are that it will stay very cold through the remainder of the week and for next weekend too.
Met Éireann says that weather warnings could be issued in the coming days.
