Galway Daily news snow and ice weather warning

A status yellow weather warning for wind has been issued for Galway which will run alongside a 24-hour snow and ice warning.

Met Éireann has warned that strong to gale force winds along with rain, sleet and snow will lead to poor visibility and hazardous conditions.

Both warnings come into effect at 8am tomorrow, Thursday across all counties in the Republic and they will remain in place until Friday morning.

Galway City Council says that gritters are on standby and advised members of the public to take all precautions necessary to stay safe.

“Many people will be working from home but those who do need to travel should exercise extra caution, whether they are driving, cycling or walking,” the Council said today in a statement.

“By taking some simple steps, we can all reduce the impact of such events and cope with them when they happen.

“A range of advice, tips and resources are available online to help to be as prepared as possible such as Be Winter Ready, and on Irish Water’s website.”
