Met Éireann has said that further weather warnings are expected as the arctic airflow continues over the weekend and into the early days of next week.
Very cold nighttime and daytime temperatures are set to continue, bringing sharp to severe frosts and icy stretches on roads and footpaths.
Dense fog will form in places with patches of freezing fog, and some showers of hail and sleet are expected too, falling as snow on higher ground.
A status yellow warning comes into effect in Galway, remaining in place until midday on Sunday.
Road users are warned that there will be poor visibility and hazardous travelling conditions due to the freezing temperatures and dense fog.
