This week’s cold snap still has a bit of a sting in the tail, with further freezing temperatures and icy conditions expected in Galway tonight.
Met Eireann has issued a further Status Yellow Ice Warning for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Connacht, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath.
This weather warning will be in effect from 7pm on Friday night until 10am on Saturday morning.
Met Eireann is warning of “freezing temperatures, widespread frost, and icy surfaces” during this time, which will create hazardous driving conditions.
Another status yellow weather warning for all of Ireland only expired at midday today, after the country saw significant snowfall on Thursday evening and overnight.
Temperatures in Galway are forecast to drop as low as -2 degrees overnight on Friday, coldest inland.
Motorists have been advised to take care this morning, as accumulations of snow and ice could create hazardous driving conditions.
