Met Éireann’s thunderstorm warning has been lifted as the forecasters expect a largely dry day today, with some bright or sunny spells in parts of the county in the evening.
The skies across many parts of Ireland were lit up last night by huge flashes of lightning, and Met Éireann’s status yellow and orange warnings lasted into the early hours.
Today will be much calmer across the county, with east Galway seeing more of the brighter spells this evening, with the western shores remaining cloudier.
It will be mild for the time of year, with high temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees in moderate southeast breezes.
Some isolated showers are also possible later in the evening, but it should remain mostly dry.
It will be breezy on Friday with showers or longer spells of rain, but there will also dry spells and occasional bright spells. High temperatures tomorrow will be 14 to 17 degrees Celsius.
