The heatwave is set to continue into Saturday before temperatures finally dip slightly, but more sunshine is forecast for Galway over the weekend.
Met Éireann’s weather warning for high temperatures was extended earlier today, and it will now expire at 9am on Saturday morning.
High temperatures will continue tomorrow, Friday, with hot conditions by day and staying very warm and humid at night.
Afternoon temperatures will be in the high twenties on Friday, with overnight values not falling below 15 to 19 degrees.
There will be more cloud on Friday though, with scattered thunderstorms in parts of Galway in the late afternoon.
Saturday will see a return to more sunny weather with temperatures dipping slightly. Highs in the mid twenties are forecast across the county.
Sunday looks set to be yet another sunny day, with high temperatures of 24 degrees before cooler conditions return on Monday.
The early forecast for next week suggests that daytime highs will be around 17 or 18 degrees.
