A Boil Water notice issued for residents of an estate in Salthill has been lifted by Irish Water today.
The notice for 70 homes in the area of the Ard na Mara estate in Salthill was issued on June 17 due to the presence of e. coli bacteria in the water supply.
Since then, continuous flushing of the water main network and verification monitoring of the water supply has been taking place.
As a result of this, the notice has been lifted with immediate effect today, and people affected are now being advised that they can drink their water as normal.
Irish Water’s Compliance Analyst Thomas Gibbons, said “Irish Water and Galway City Council acknowledges and understands the impact of this Boil Water Notice on the 70 properties in Ard na Mara and its environs”.
“We would like to thank customers for their patience and cooperation while essential works were carried out.”
“Our priority is the provision of safe, clean drinking water. Safeguarding that water supply for the future for customers in Galway city is a vital focus.”
