Denis Buckley will be extending his stay at the Sportsground by three years, Connacht Rugby has confirmed.
The loosehead prop has signed a has signed an initial three-year deal, with the club having an option on the third year.
Speaking about the deal, Buckley said that Connacht is a “special place” for him, and that he’s pleased to be extending his stay.
“The Sportsground will change a lot over that time so I’m excited to see the development take place and play my part in that on the field.”
An old hand at Connacht now, Buckley has made 223 appearances for the province since first joining in 2011.
He was part of the wider squad that won the 2016 Guinness PRO12, and has also been capped by the Ireland U20s, Emerging Ireland and the Barbarians.
Director of Rugby Andy Friend praised that body of experience he brings to the front row for Connacht Rugby.
“He’s a top-class scrummager and has seen a lot of change at the club since his debut over 10 years ago.”
