Nine Galway players have made the cut as nominees for the 2020 PwC Hurling and Football All-Stars announced this week.

Seven Galway GAA hurling players have been nominated for the awards, as have two football players.

Daithí Burke, Aidan Harte, Pádraic Mannion Brian Concannon, Joe Canning, Conor Whelan, Cathal Mannion were nominated in hurling while Shane Walsh and Paul Conroy were nominated in football.

There are eight counties represented in the list of hurling nominees, dominated by Limerick who have 14 nominees, with Galway third in strength on the list behind Waterford.

In football the list is made up of players from ten counties, and it’s no surprise the six-in-a-row champions head up the list with 13 nominees.

The nominations were chosen by a panel of Gaelic Games correspondents from across, print, radio, TV and digital media, chaired by Uachtarán CLG John Horan.

Congratulating the nominees, John Horan said “I want to acknowledge all of those who have been chosen among this list of nominees for the PwC All-Stars.

“The 2020 season will go down in history for the backdrop against which it was played, and all of our players deserve great credit for producing the levels of skill and enjoyment we witnessed. Our thanks to PwC for helping ensure those heroics are recognised here.”
