Leinster Senior Hurling Championship – Sunday, 27th May 2018
Galway 1-22 Kilkenny 2-11
Eight points without reply in the second half finally finished Kilkenny’s challenge in Pearse Stadium as Galway secured their second victory in the Leinster Hurling Championship.
Joe Canning, Conor Cooney, Niall Burke and Jason Flynn were among the scorers for the reigning champions before Walter Walsh got a consolation goal for Brian Cody’s charges.
A 29th minute penalty from Canning gave Michael Donoghue’s charges a 1-9 to 1-4 interval advantage with TJ Reid doing likewise for the visitors.
But the first ever Leinster match in Salthill ended with the hosts prevailing as they moved within touching distance of the knockout stages.
