St. Thomas’ Fintan Burke was selected the 2018 Galway Daily under 21 Hurler of the Year after three rounds of twitter polling took place last week (August 13th – 15th).
Hard luck to the Galway u21's. Battled 'til the end but it just wasn't to be. So proud of Fintan Burke who was superb & won Player of the Match 🇶🇦 https://t.co/fUnaFYNDz6

The captain is a first cousin of Galway senior David and followed in his footsteps leading from the front with consistent displays in the half back line as the Tribesmen embarked on unchartered waters in 2018.
Tony Ward’s team played in the Leinster championship for the first time and scored a stunning final victory over Wexford (4-21 to 2-26) thanks to Sean Bleahene’s late goal. And in defence, he had the desired leader who inspired his team to success despite their All-Ireland semi-final reversal to Tipperary.
The wing back topped the final poll with 61% of the vote ahead of Turloughmore’s Sean Loftus (20%), Ahascragh/Fohenagh’s Sean Bleahene (11%) and Craughwell’s Thomas Monaghan (8%).
