Sylane Hurling Club has been awarded over €100,000 in funding from the LEADER programme for the development of new club facilities.
Galway East TD Seán Canney said that the club has been awarded €112,377 for the development and completion of their community hall, meeting room, gym, toilet and changing facilities at their development at Sylane Hurling pitch.
This is a major boost for the Club which has over 350 members including both hurling and camogie.
The independent TD said that the club has also received €78,000 in funding from the Capital Sports grants for the development of additional facilities at the Club House.
This money is being used for the community element of the project, to ensure a “modern and all-inclusive community facility” for the wider community.
Sylane hurling club recently purchased additional land adjacent to their existing pitch and are in the process of developing two training pitches which they hope to have in use in 2021.
“I acknowledge the work of the Sylane Hurling Club who have demonstrated determination and have put forward progressive plans for the benefit of the entire community since the club was founded in 1984.
“They have had success on and off the field of play since and bring together a spirit of participation for all ages,” Seán Canney said.
