Galway’s successful Connacht senior football champions will be heading to the Hilton Hotel in Wembley in December 2018 to receive their medals.

The Galway Association in London will honour Kevin Walsh’s squad when they are special guests on Saturday, 8th December.

Galway will also begin their Connacht title defence against London in May 2019.

“It’s going to be huge; it’s a fantastic coup to bring them over,” said Finbarr Burke to Damian Dolan of the Irish World.  “It’s the first time we’ve experienced anything like this. It’s going to be really exciting for Galway GAA supporters. Most people in the west of Ireland have connections here.”

Burke, the current chairman, has been involved with the Association for over 40 years and had been negotiating with the Galway county board since August regarding bringing the team over for the dinner.

Galway’s 0-16 to 2-6 victory over Roscommon in June secured their 47th provincial title before they came through the ‘Super 8s’ to participate in a first All-Ireland semi-final since their Sam Maguire success in 2001.

Eventual champions Dublin ended the Tribesmen’s run and it was also the Metropolitans who got the better of Galway in the Division One League Final.

The dinner is limited to 550 so people advised to apply early for tickets to avoid disappointment.

Tickets are priced at £85. To book, or for further information, or to find out about sponsorship opportunities contact Finbarr on 07915 608883 or the Galway Association secretary Nora Connelly on 01895 639539.
