Connacht Rugby have announced that five players have extended their contracts as the squad for the coming season is finalised.
Tom Daly, Peter Robb, Dominic Robertson-McCoy have all signed two years extensions which will keep them playing rugby for Connacht until the end of the 21/22 season.
And Shane Delahunt and Conor Kenny have both agreed to one year extensions which will keep them at the Sportsground for the coming season.
Tom Daly joined Connacht in 2018, debuting against Munster in January of the following year.
He’s appeared for the province 20 times in the year since then, having previously been capped for Ireland at U20 level and is also a former captain of the Ireland Rugby 7s team.
Centre Peter Robb featured prominently in Connacht’s Guinness PRO12 winning season when he made 12 appearances throughout that campaign.
The 25 year old has recovered from a number of recent injuries and has amassed 10 appearances so far this season.
This is Dominic Robertson-McCoy’s fourth season at the Sportsground. In that time the New Zealand born tighthead has taken the pitch 50 times for the province.
Shane Delahunt and Conor Kenny are both local creations, coming up through the Connacht Academy.
Delahunt joined the provincial side in 2014, debuting that September, and appearing a total of 74 times since.
The 26 year old also featured in Connacht’s Championship winning season in 2015/16 while still an academy player.
Kenny played club rugby with Buccaneers RFC and Connacht Schools with Garbally College where he won a Senior Cup medal in 2015.
Since joining the senior side this season he has made five appearances.
Commenting on the latest contract extensions, Connacht Head Coach Andy Friend said that they were very happy to have the five sticking with Connacht.
“During our Champions Cup and PRO14 campaigns we have already seen the depth we need in the squad to perform on two fronts.”
Friend concluded by saying that they expect to have more announcements in the coming weeks as the squad for 2020/21 season is finalised.
