Group A
Castlegar 2-14 Kiltulla/Killimordaly 1-10 (Thursday, 21st June 2018, Castlegar)
Last year’s relegated senior team Castlegar began life in the second tier with a victory over Kiltulla/Killimordaly. They led 1-10 to 0-5 at half-time and even though their opponents edged the second period by one, their win was never in doubt.
Craughwell 2-12 Shamrocks 1-9 (Sunday, 24th June 2018, Loughrea)
An entertaining joust saw Craughwell get an opening day win by six points. A good crowd in sunny conditions stayed to enjoy the intermediate fare after witnessing St. Thomas against Eyrecourt in the senior championship and weren’t disappointed.
