Tour D'Shams

Ballinasloe Cycling Club are running their fourth annual charity cycle this Sunday (26th August) in what has proven to be a very popular event over the last few years.

This year (2018), the club will be raising funds for the Ballinasloe/Creagh CFR 1st responder group.  They are a local communtiy group trained in CPR and use of an AECD who respond in the event of a cardiac arrest.

Community group trained in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and use of an AED (automated external defibrillator) who respond in their local area in the event of a cardiac arrest.

Only last Friday (17th August), they announced new AEDs outside Barrett’s Hardware Shop, the Post Office and the Poolboy Postal Depot in Ballinasloe.

There will be two distances for Sunday’s Tour D’Shams race.  The main 100km route will consist of two groups (25km/h and 30+km/h) to accommodate those looking to hit racing pace or who just want to tour at a steady and testing pace.

That kicks off at 9.30am but there will also be a 50km easy pace group commencing their cycle 15 minutes later (9.45am).

Anyone who has been on a Tour D’Shams before know there will be great fun cakes and cycling and to benefit a great local cause this year makes it even better. Entry is just €25 for Cycling Ireland members (€30 for non-members) and further details can be found by checking Ballinasloe Cycling Club’s Facebook page.

Invite all your cycling friends to this great Ballinasloe Cycling Club Annual Tour D’Shams Event. It’s all about getting out on the day and having fun.  There will be spot prizes, the strava king and queen prizes and lots of buns cakes and goodies for all.
