Galway City Council has awarded €22,000 in grants to eleven clubs and groups in the city supporting less well known sports.
The funding under the Minority Sport and Activity Fund is designed to support physical activity in those sports that people are interested in but may not have the ability to delivery new programmes to new people.
Fitting for a seaside town, there were multiple boating groups supported, with others receiving backing including Tennis, Hockey, and Athletics.
Other groups that enable the delivery of smaller sports and activities included the Menlo Scouts and Ballinfoile Community Centre.
The programme is delivered by the city council working together with Galway Sports Partnership.
