Work has begun on installing new footpaths, road crossing, and public lighting in Corofin with funding from the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Corofin was allocated €100,000 under the scheme in 2019 to “install a pedestrian crossing, new footpaths, tactile paving and public realm works.”
Galway East TD Seán Canney welcomed the news of the improvements underway, saying he is “delighted” the the Town and Village Scheme funding is being put to good use.
“Great credit is due to the Corofin Community Development Association and Galway County Council who are working together on this project.”
The Independent TD added that a traffic management system needs to be installed at the bridge based on a Safety Audit carried out by the county council
