Galway’s Gardaí marked International Women’s Day with a special event on Monday discussing women in policing.
Guest speakers at the event from the Gardaí included Inspector Georgina Lohan who discussed the history of women in An Garda Síochana.
She was joined by Dr. Carol Baumann, Manager of the Domestic Abuse Service, Galway and Ms. Sharon Fitzmaurice, Holistic Wellness Coach and Author who spoke on mindfulness.
Garda Lorraine Walsh addressed the event about Employee Assistance, and Ms. Adrienne Ryan Turley, Aib Manager/Network Ireland spoke about financial well-being.
The coffee morning event took place at the Maldron Hotel on Monday, the day after International Women’s Day, which takes place on March 8 of each year.
An Garda Síochana has a workforce that is 26% female, above the European average of 18%.
