Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a serious traffic incident on the Dyke road yesterday that left two people in hospital with serious injuries.

Two pedestrians, a man and a woman in their 50s were struck by a car outside the Black Box theatre at 8:30am on Wednesday morning.

They were taken to University Hospital Galway with serious injuries, though it’s understood they are conscious.

The Dyke road was closed for several hours yesterday between the Black Box and the Headford road junction while Gardaí conducted a technical examination of the scene.

According to Gardaí the driver of the car was not injured in the incident.
