Athenry Sinn Féin will hold a commemoration this Sunday 27 June to mark the 100th anniversary of the death of IRA Captain William Freeney.
The event will take place at 3pm on Sunday in Teampeal Geal Cemetery in Derrydonnell.
IRA Captain William Freeney from Derrydonnell died on active service in Athenry in June 1921.
Louis O’Hara will chair the commemoration and the main oration will be given by Galway West TD Mairéad Farrell.
