Homes and businesses in Athenry are experiencing water outages this evening due to a burst water main by the Raheen Woods Hotel.
Irish Water and the County Council have said that a burst mains is causing water outages in Ballygurrane and surrounding areas of Athenry.
Repair works are underway and currently have an estimated time of completion of 6pm.
A traffic management plan is in place in the area while work is underway.
“Galway County Council working in partnership with Irish Water wish to apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused by these emergency works,” a statement from the council said.
People affected by this are advised that it may take 2 – 3 hours after repairs are completed before full water supply is restored.
Anyone affected by this can find updates through Irish Water’s Supply and Service page or by contacting the Twitter account @IWCare.
