The Ukrainian Flag will fly over City Hall for the foreseeable future after the Mayor and council raised it in a ceremony on Tuesday.
Mayor of Galway City Colette Connolly, members of the council, and the Ukrainian community in Galway attended the flag raising ceremony at City Hall yesterday.
This followed after both the city and county councils voted in favour of flying the beleaguered country’s flag on Monday.
The flag will be raised at County Hall in Prospect Hill later this week.
The Ukraine has been fighting off a Russian invasion since last Friday, and the violence only looks set to escalate in the days ahead.
