University Hospital Galway is the second most overcrowded in the country for the third time this week alone.

There are 62 patients without beds at University Hospital Galway today, the highest level seen so far this week.

In the emergency department at UHG, there are 47 patients on trolleys, while another 15 patients are in the wards with no beds available.

There has not been a single day so far this week when there have been fewer than 50 patients on trolleys at UHG.

Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe is fortunately doing better today, with no patients on trolleys according to INMO figures.

Nationwide there are 488 people in Irish hospitals with no beds available for them today, with University Hospital Limerick suffering the worst with 93 on trolleys.

This is followed by UHG (62), Cork University Hospital (50), Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (32), and Sligo University Hospital (27).
